HOTPROSPECTS LAUNCH NEW DIGITAL BROCHURE

HotProspects, The East Midlands Graduate Recruitment has produced a new digital brochure to show businesses in the region how they can access an untapped pool of graduate talent.

The International Graduate Scheme allows graduates from countries in the EU to work in the UK for up to one year after graduating.  HotProspects new digital brochure shows SMEs how they can gain access to these graduates.

A recent study undertaken by University of Northampton for East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and University Careers Departments showed that nearly 90% of businesses were unaware of the latest information on rules governing the employment of international (non-EU) students or graduates.
Iain McCracken, Project Director for HotProspects: “Many companies do not realise that they can employ graduates from outside the UK, for up to one year after graduation, or that they can be considered for short term placements.  This digital brochure aims to break down these misconceptions, as there is a pool of talent out there that companies in the East Midlands are not making the most of.”

As part of the East Midlands International Connections initiative, HotProspects have been working with emda Universities to identify and help break down the various barriers that prevent International (non EU) Students (whether undergraduates, graduates and post graduates) being considered for short term projects or placement or job opportunities by East Midlands businesses.  It was decided that a digital brochure would be the quickest and easiest way for SMEs in the region to access the information, following on from the success of HotProspects Graduate Recruitment and Selection CD-ROM, “Better By Degree”.

Iain continued: “Within the East Midlands exist some significant skills shortages particularly in key sectors and certain geographies that could be filled by talented and skilled graduates from outside the UK.  In light of the recent changes to the rules regarding work permits for international students, I would urge employers to act now and address the issue by requesting the new digital brochure.”

“International graduates can add language skills, cultural awareness and a whole new skill set to your business. The digital brochure provides the most up-to-date and definitive information to allow SMEs to take advantage of this new opportunity”.

Launched in June 2006, HotProspects has enjoyed phenomenal success as graduate recruitment agency for the East Midlands.  To date it has placed over 1230 graduates and has nearly 1200 SMEs registered on http://www.hotprospects.org.uk.
