AFTER THE EVENT
Following up interviews is important. Make sure you find out the best ways of doing this.
So you think you did well at interview and you really want the job. What can you do to stand out from the competition?
YOU CAN FOLLOW UP
A letter or email and then a telephone call to reinforce your interest and qualities for the job will increase your profile and chances of receiving a job offer.
Jobs are usually offered to the most passionate and determined candidates so you need to be passionate and determined when you are following up after your interview.
A good follow up letter or email allows you to demonstrate for a second time that you are professional, have the right qualities and are keen to be offered the job.
Persistence often pays off, especially where the role requires someone who can make things happen.
Persistence on its own is not enough. The same rules apply to follow up letter writing that apply to CV writing. Your letter or email must be professional and accurate which means no spelling or grammatical mistakes. It is no good scoring points for persistence and loosing them for poor communication and professionalism. Proof read your letter carefully; even better, get someone else to proof read it as well.
When it comes to making the telephone call, prepare a script of exactly what you want to say and rehearse it before you make the call.
NOW GO FOR IT
Although the odd person gets offered a job through luck, most winning candidates are offered jobs because they have done their research and preparation and have presented themselves better then anyone else.
